In less than two weeks the bell will play again. This time, different from the other years! Regardless of the «screenplay» of the learning adopted by the school where your junior goes, the child needs a properly organized study area, which will give him a favorable picture for learning.
During this period, everyone, with a small one, are preparing for the school. The shops are taken by parents, children and grandparents for the purchase of textbooks, supplies, but also of some furniture and accessories, necessary for the arrangement/redevelopment of the study area in the child’s room. How should this be to attract the little one to the lessons? What is the most suitable and comfortable piece of furniture, since it will spend a lot of time not only to write and read, but also to participate in online courses? Which office model would be better indicated? But how should the chair be to guarantee a correct position? You don’t have these questions in your mind, especially since, before the start of the new school year, did you propose to redeem the children’s bedroom? If you have not yet found the answers to the questions listed above, there is nothing. Don’t panic! Read our article and, in the end, you will know which choices to make to create your child a place of study adequately arranged, depending on his real and comfortable needs and, last but not less important, with a pleasant decoration.
Before starting the arrangement/redevelopment and making a list of the objects and accessories you need to buy, we remind you that a school chamber must be mainly functional, organized according to well -defined rules. This means that the emphasis will fall on practical objects and as ergonomic and less on the aesthetic side, which will occupy a secondary plan.
It is easy to understand that the study space must be organized on the basis of those who will use it, at its age and concerns. These factors will significantly influence the furniture. For example, in the case of praise of the garden, the agreement must be mainly safe and friendly with the baby and, secondly, full of imagination, to develop your imagination and creativity, when it comes to a school room, the situation changes radically. When the child enters the educational system, his universe until then, dominated by games and toys, is gradually replaced with another more abstract. His area of activities and concerns changes, diversifies, which begins to reflect in the appearance of his room. Therefore, instead of the colored furniture, animated with superheroes or princesses, another is simpler, more «serious», subject to new activities and passions. In addition, a new office area appears in the room, where it will read, write, learn, draw and, more recently, will follow online courses.
To be as functional as possible and integrate as harmoniously as possible in the room, the study space should be carefully arranged, given the following decorative elements:
It should first of all be chosen depending on the height of the child. The idea is that your schoolchildren feel comfortable as they do their homework or work on the computer. The office should not be too low or too high. For example, if it is too low, the child will have a crouched position and if he is too high, he will remain with very high elbows. From here until the appearance of back pain, column or neck is only a step, so don’t rush when buying this furniture object. The most recommended is to focus on an office with an adjustable height, which the junior to be used later, when it will go to high school or even college.
As for the design, there are different types of offices to choose from. The most common office model is the rectangular one, which can be placed side by side, near the wall. Another very good variant you can consider is a rectangular office with rounded biological edges that will prevent the child from the injuries. Its main advantage is that it can be located not only close to the wall, but also in the middle of the room.
If the space in the child’s room is too small, the most recommended solution is a corner desk, even with rounded edges.
Finally, if the study area is divided by two brothers, a double office is necessary, aligned or semicircular.
Regardless of the model you opt, it is very important that it is large enough to host a book (or more) and an open notebook, the pen, the computer/laptop/tablet and, of course, the elbows. It should also be supplied with drawers and storage spaces, very useful for keeping supplies and accessories in order. As for textbooks, books, CDs and many other children, they can sit on the shelves and wardrobes located near the work table. Otherwise, if the baby gets too often from the office to look for a certain book or a certain thing, he will be tempted to take a break from school activities more often than he should.
And the place where the office is positioned is essential. Ideally it would be to position it in front of the window, so that your schoolchildren benefit from natural light and fresh air during the study. He also takes into account that the light comes from the front or left, if the junior writes with his right hand, respectively on the right side, if left.
The key word when choosing the office chair is «ergonomics». A model like this, with Heel and the adjustable back, will ensure the child a position of the correct body during learning. Another advice you should consider is that the part of the seats keeps the thighs vertically and knees – with an angle of 90 degrees. Another thing: the chair that your niant of hours spent hours below must be comfortable, but not exaggerated at ease, since it will be tempted to relax and even fall asleep. Last but not least, do not forget to educate your child to take a short break every half hour.
Even if the office is close to the window and receives sufficient natural light, there must be a source of artificial light on the work table. This gives its usefulness when cloudy, in the autumn-winter season, when the days are short or after leaving the evening. An insufficient enlightened place affects the vision and also reduces the ability to concentrate. Therefore, it is mandatory to equip the desk with an adjustable arm device, with a light similar to that of the sun (cold white light).
In the context of learning from home, at a distance, the computer/ laptop/ tablet has become a mandatory work tool, which is located on the child’s desk – attention, it must be positioned so that the external light does not reflect in the monitor! However, be careful to use the device exclusively for this purpose. With a computer connected to the Internet, the baby will be tempted to take long and frequent breaks to play or waste time on all types of sites that are not tied to the school. Therefore, we recommend that you supervise it up close or, even better, to guarantee a controlled internet connection, which will allow it only to educational sites.
Near the office, at the eye level, it would be very useful to allocate an area in which the child note his program, some lessons that must study above all or important information for him. A writing sheet or a wall portion finished with the paint to be written with Crete is a simple, efficient and … cool solution, which will like super-mullet.
When they study, the baby must have manuals, notebooks and the rest of the possible supplies, so that they do not waste precious time to look for them in the room. If the office does not have many storage places, you can mount some policies on the wall/walls next to the work table, which schoolchildren to position these objects. Attention, the shelves should be located at an accessible height, so that your young man finds what he is looking for immediately.
As for the books that do not take school, we advise you to put them in another place, such as, for example, a small area for reading. Therefore, the child will not associate reading with school lessons.
As I said at the beginning of the article, the place of study in the child’s room must be, first of all. But not only functional! And the furniture matters a lot. The most suitable for the arrangement of the study area are pastel shades, such as blue, cream, straw yellow, light green, etc. They are bright, relaxing and predispose to concentration, so use them with confidence. Instead, it would be nice to avoid strong colors, which can lead to your child a state of agitation or nervousness. Apart from the colors, in the arrangement of this area of the bedroom for children it would be advisable not to find too many decorations or personal items, so as not to distract attention from the lessons.
